This site earns money in exactly one way, and this page explains it in full rather than in a line of small print.

What we are paid for

Blank Cipher is published by GALLARDO TRADE s.r.o. and carries paid affiliate links to the Crossout website. If you open one of those links and then create an account, confirm your email address and log into the game, the affiliate network that operates the link pays us a commission for that sign-up.

The commission comes from the advertiser's own marketing budget. Nothing is added to anything you pay: the price of the game, and of anything inside it, is the same whether you arrive through our link, through a search engine or by typing the address yourself. You are not charged for the link, and there is no code, voucher or arrangement attached to it.

We are told about sign-ups in the aggregate reports the network sends us, which we use only to reconcile what we are owed. Those reports are described in the Privacy Policy: we do not seek information that identifies individual readers, and we cannot tell whether any particular person followed a link.

Where the links appear

There are five paid links on this site, and they are in predictable places so that nothing creeps up on you:

  • One on the homepage, in the section explaining where Crossout appears in the course and why.
  • One in each of Steps 1 to 4, inside the outlined note panel, never in the body of an instruction.
  • None in Step 5. The step about money carries no paid link at all, deliberately.
  • None in any checklist, on the checklists page, or in the navigation or footer.

Every one of them is marked with a line of plain text immediately beside it saying that it is a paid link and what triggers our commission. The text appears every time, not once at the top of the page, and it is never hidden behind a tooltip or a collapsed box.

Each link points directly at the advertiser's destination address. We do not route clicks through a redirect of our own, we do not rewrite the address when you click, and nothing is hidden from your browser's status bar: what you see when you hover is where you go. The links carry rel="sponsored nofollow noopener" so that search engines are told they are paid, and they open in a new tab so that your place in the course is not lost.

What the commission does not decide

It does not decide the content of the five steps. No step was written, lengthened, softened or left out because of it. Several checks in the course can end with a reader deciding not to install anything at all — the operating-system test in Step 2 is the clearest example, since the offer we link to does not cover macOS and we say so plainly rather than steering a Mac owner onwards — and those checks stay in because they are the honest answer.

It also does not decide which products are mentioned. Only one product is named anywhere in this course, and it is named because it matches the category the course teaches: an account-based, free-to-play desktop game. There is no ranking, no scoring and no comparison table, so there is nothing for a commission to move up or down.

And it does not decide what we say about that product. Every statement about Crossout in this course comes from what the vendor itself states. Where the vendor does not state something, the course says so instead of filling the gap. There are no reviews, ratings, test results or benchmarks on this site at all.

What does decide the content

Three things, in this order. First, whether a reader who has never done this before can complete the step with no money spent and no help from us. Second, whether the step is true of the whole category rather than of one product's interface, so that it stays accurate when a game is updated. Third, whether the step ends in something a reader can actually carry out on their own, which is why every one of them ends in a checklist rather than a conclusion.

The method behind the structure, the sources each step relies on and the review cycle are set out in the editorial method section of the About page. If you think a step fails any of those three tests, that is exactly the kind of message we would like to receive at info@blankcipher.online.

Reading the course without the links

You can finish all five steps, print every checklist and act on all of it without opening a single paid link. Nothing is gated, nothing is withheld for later, and no step depends on having followed one. If you would rather reach the vendor another way, type its name into a search engine — we would still rather you read the publisher's own pages than take anything here as a substitute for them.

Trademarks

All brand names on Blank Cipher, Crossout among them, are the property of their owners. Except for the paid affiliate links described on our funding page, none of those owners is affiliated with Blank Cipher, and none has endorsed or sponsored it.
